Hugh Jackman:Third Choice for Wolverine Role?

With a new “Origins” movie coming to the screens this summer, fans are excited to get their periodic dose of “X-Men.” Hugh Jackman makes the perfect Wolverine, and it would be hard to imagine anyone else playing the role. However, he was the third pick for stepping up to play the haunted character. Director Bryan Singer had chosen  Russell Crowe as his first choice for Wolverine for the first “X-Men.” Crowe’s asking price for the role apparently did him in on getting the gig. He is no doubt kicking himself now that it’s become widely known that Jackman is set to star in many more movies to come. Dougray Scott became cast as Wolverine, but  “Mission: Impossible 2″ required a long shoot. Hugh Jackman then took the helm and won the hearts of X’ers everywhere.

He may be much taller than his character is depicted in the comics, but he seems a perfect fit for Wolverine. Coming from someone who grew up reading my brother’s hand-me-down “X-Men” comics, I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing the role. What will be interesting will be to see where the whole series of movies goes with Wolverine. I’m also pretty scared to know that the maker of “Gossip Girl” is writing future movies. No offense, but if the mutant teenagers are anything like the ones on that show, I do NOT want to see those movies. Maybe I’m a little old-school, but if I see one and there are controversies over which mutant is sleeping with which, one is pregnant, or having an affair then it doesn’t have my vote. Stay tuned to see what happens next!

The Joaquin Phoenix Fiasco On David Letterman

Joaquin Phoenix definately has tv and the web abuzz with confusion over what was going on with him during his appearance on David Letterman’s Late Show! Not only did he seem to totally not care about being there, he clearly didn’t want to talk about his movie or acting for that matter. Joaquin often chewed his gum violently and remained listless despite David’s constant questioning. He mostly responded to the audience and band’s laughter at Letterman’s frustration with the interview. At one point, the talk show host had to set up Phoenix’s clip for him, and angered him by making fun of his gum chewing. This then prompted Joaquin to stick it to David, by putting it underneath the corner of his desk.

While some people think it’s all a set up act, others believe that Joaquin is smoking some major chronic with the idea of him having a rap career and all. I’m not going to be one to knock rap music or hip hop, because too many people do these days due to a few artists who have a certain bad image when there are thousands of artists in this genre who don’t have to use foul language or promote violence. These are not the ones the public supports by buying tons of cds and paying for concert tickets each year however, they’d rather hear about the violence. I can’t judge on whether or not Joaquin could actually have a successful hip hop career, I’ve never heard the man’s music. I have no idea what he is or isn’t smoking, but if he wants to be taken seriously then maybe he should get his style established and give insightful interviews into his craft…just saying. Going to an interview and ignoring the host just isn’t going to get it, nor will going batty either. Although it does help Brangelina’s career, any publicity is good publicity I guess.
